  1. What strikes you about God’s grace toward Abraham in the birth of Isaac?
  2. Isaac means “laughter”, which has a duel meaning. It speaks to Abraham and Sarah laughing at God’s promises and the laughter of grace in God fulfilling his promises. Where has God’s promises reversed a seemingly hopeless situation for you?
  3. The “way of Ishmael” was Abraham trusting himself and living by his own power. The “way of Isaac” was Abraham trusting God’s promises and living by God’s power and grace. Where do you need to trust the promises of the gospel more and live more by God’s power and grace?
